Molex has introduced two FFC/FPC connectors targeting automotive and TV display applications that require high reliability and fine pitch connectors. Molex says the connectors are available in 0.5mm and 1.0mm pitch formats, reducing overall space, weight and cost.
Easy-On FFC/FPC connectors feature a double bottom contact terminal design that removes dust and other environmental contaminants more efficiently than single bottom contact terminals. With a vacuum pick-and-place area on top of the housing, the connector paves the way for simple assembly, reducing costs. They also feature cable lug locking terminals for a secure connection.
According to Yosuke Terui, global product manager at Molex, the Easy-On FFC/FPC connector provides a lightweight product form with a safe signal to provide a high level of reliability, which is useful for consumer products, medical applications and the automotive industry. "The variety of solutions this product offers serves the widest range of connectors for tight packaging applications," he said.
For greater flexibility, both connector sizes are available with heat-resistant resin housings and 4 to 80 circuits spread over numerous profile heights. Additionally, 0.5mm connectors are available with single and double contacts for added versatility in circuit size, height and cable style.
