Both SMP and SSMP connectors are polarized connectors of plug-in structure, which are often used in circuit boards of miniaturized equipment. The standard operating frequency of SMP connectors is 40GHz. SSMP connector is also called Mini SMP connector, its size is smaller than SMP connector, and the operating frequency can reach 67GHz.

It should be noted that the SMP male connector includes three types: light hole, half escapement and full escapement. The main difference is that its mating torque is different from that of the SMP female connector. The full escapement has the largest mating torque, which is the same as that of SMP. The female head is connected the most tightly, and is the most difficult to remove after connection; the mating torque of the light hole is the smallest, the connection force between it and the SMP female head is the smallest, and it is the easiest to remove after connection; the half escapement is between the two. Generally, light holes and half escapements are suitable for test measurements and are easy to attach and remove; full escapements are suitable for applications where a tight connection is required and cannot be removed once attached.
There are two types of SSMP male connectors, optical hole and full escapement. The full escapement has a large mating torque, and the connection with the SSMP female head is the tightest, and it is not easy to remove after connection; the light hole mating torque is small, the connection force with the SSMP female head is the smallest, and it is easy to remove after connection.
